About the Event

The wisdom that we need to transform society today can be found in an unlikely place: our own personal stories of disruption. The world needs to learn from this wisdom, but first we need to discover it ourselves. Join us to experience a bold approach to leadership that connects innovation with personal challenge.

In this session, you'll hear an inspiring personal story and get to explore a powerful inquiry practice for gathering the wisdom from periods of breakdown in your own life.

Why focus on breakdowns? These experiences help us learn more about ourselves, they shake us out of our default mode, they challenge our assumptions about life. Breakdowns act as key signals with the message that something is not working. For many of us, breakdowns are the most transformative experiences in our lives. Breaking down is waking up.

What is a breakdown? an event in your life that invites you to look at yourself and the world differently. It can be BIG or SMALL, last 10 years or 2 days. It's personal and unique to you.

Within this session, you will:

- listen to an inspiring story of breaking down and waking up

- share your own meaningful life stories in small groups

- connect your experience to broader shared themes and inspire potential projects!

Background about the event & project:

Break down. Wake Up is an Empatiko project that creates space for us to share our real stories of personal challenges and how those experiences led to deeper wisdom, insight, and creativity.

Along the way, we'll challenge existing, long-held cultural narratives about what it means to be a leader, how connection works, and the relationship between inner work and outer success.

About the host:

I’m Meg Mateer, a psychology nerd turned business consultant and entrepreneur. Experiencing depression as a teenager was one of the most profound and insightful periods in my life - it continues to influence my curiosity, creativity, connection and leadership style. In fact, it inspired me to start Empatiko.

And there's more: we're looking for speakers for the Break Down. Wake Up podcast :)

Are you a leader? An entrepreneur? An innovator? An industry disruptor? A change-maker?

Have you had your own experience of breaking down and waking up?

We want to hear your story. We want to know your perspective on discomfort and innovation and how your personal experience has influenced this perspective.
