Moving from impossible to “why not?”

About the Event
As social activists, we aim to disrupt existing structures and norms that are no longer serving us. One of the biggest hurdles in large-scale societal transformation is shifting mindsets of key decision makers to imagine the possibility of change. Change leaders may be up against a “scarcity” mindset, and for good reason. There are often so many barriers, both external and internal, to true system transformation. Where do we even begin? What happens if it fails? We’ve already tried it. Etc. The challenge is the focus is already on the IMPOSSIBLE, and from there it's hard to start a conversation about change.
What if, instead, we were able to have people focus on what they wanted without restriction, eliciting a state of being that invited creativity and imagination? How can we tap into our own inspiration and use it to positively influence others? This is the power of framing.
In this session, we’ll practice using the following elements to tap into our own visionary state and use it to inspire broader systemic change:
- Looking for where the problem is not - finding inspiration rather than critique
- Eliciting an excited state (where visioning is possible and embodied)
- Modeling this state as an energetic influencer behavior for each other to absorb
- Metaphorically anchoring that state - to tap into what is possible and switch from a scarcity to an abundant mindset
